How To Remove Foul Odor From Washing Machine

Step  1 - With your machine empty, run it full of hot water to the largest load setting. When the tub is full and begins to agitate, add 3 to 4 cups of distilled white vinegar to the water. Then add ½ cup of baking soda. Allow the machine to agitate for a few moments, then turn off the machine. Let the water sit for thirty minutes to one hour.
Step-2 - After allowing the vinegar/baking soda mixture to penetrate the grime in the washing machine tub, restart the machine, allowing it to complete the wash cycle. At the end of the wash cycle, as the tub begins to drain, advance the washing machine to the spin cycle. On many washing machines, this will cause the washing machine to spin as it drains, which can help to further loosen any residue. If yours doesn't do this, simply allow it to drain. Turn off the machine.
Step-3 - Wipe the inside of the washing machine tub with a wet cloth. If desired, use a cloth soaked in a solution of half hot water and half white vinegar. Be sure to wipe all inside surfaces, including the bottom and blades of the agitator and the top of the tub just under the lid. (It is sometimes helpful to use a wire toilet brush around the top rim and in hard-to-reach places.) If the washing machine has a fabric softener and/or a bleach dispenser, remove these and clean thoroughly before replacing.
If after following these steps the odor remains, the washing machine may have build-up in some of the inner parts. If your washing machine is still under warranty, contact the manufacturer for a repair person to check it out. If not, contact your local appliance repair shop, and they should be able to clean the machine for you.
How to prevent build-up in your washing machine
To keep your washing machine looking and smelling cleaner for longer, follow these simple steps to reduce build-up:
- Use less detergent. What detergent manufacturers don't tell you is that you can often get away with using half the recommended amount (or possibly even less), and your clothes will come out just as clean. The amount you need to use depends on your local water - those with hard water may need to use more detergent, while those with soft water may be able to use extremely small amounts. Experiment to find the optimal detergent amount for your washing machine.
- Use vinegar instead of commercial fabric softener. Adding ¼ cup of white vinegar to the rinse cycle is as effective as using commercial fabric softener, and won't leave oily residue on your washing machine. As an added bonus, vinegar is much less expensive than fabric softener, and will help to remove stains and brighten whites and colors. Don't worry about your clothing smelling like vinegar - any odor will be removed in the rinse and during drying.
- Rinse clothing thoroughly after washing. If you find that your rinse cycle produces a lot of suds, your clothes are not being rinsed thoroughly, and therefore neither is your washing machine. Run an extra rinse cycle, and in the future, try to use less detergent.

Valentine's Day 2013 - Romantic Movie Quotes

love quotesA collection of romantic movie love quotes from a variety of movies.

Movie Love Quotes

You are what you love, not what loves you. That's what I decided a long time ago.
-- Adaptation

How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.
-- Annie

This kind of certainty comes but once in a lifetime.
-- Bridges of Madison County

...someday my wish is for him to hold me in his arms, in a sea of deep blue, together at last, together as two.
-- Can't Buy Me Love

Love is a temporary madness. It erupts like an earthquake and then subsides. And when it subsides you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have become so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion. That is just being "in love" which any of us can convince ourselves we are.

Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident. Your mother and I had it, we had roots that grew towards each other underground, and when all the pretty blossom had fallen from our branches we found that we were one tree and not two.
-- Captain Corelli's Mandolin

Kiss me. Kiss me as if it were the last time.
-- Casablanca

If I tell you I love you, can I keep you forever?
-- Casper

Life is messy. Love is messier.
-- Catch and Release

A dream is a wish your heart makes.
-- Cinderella

I would rather have had one breath of her hair, one kiss from her mouth, one touch of her hand, than eternity without it.
-- City of Angels

My husband and I fell in love at first sight... maybe I should have taken a second look.
-- Crimes and Misdemeanors

Love is not a feeling, it's an ability.
-- Dan in Real Life

There are only four questions of value in life.
What is sacred?
Of what is the spirit made of?
What is worth living for?
What is worth dying for?
The answer to each is the same. Only love.
-- Don Juan Demarco

You're a romantic. You have a lyrical soul. You can love under the best and worst conditions.
-- Drew Barymore, "Fever Pitch"

Life is like a box of choclates, you never know what your gonna get.
-- Forest Gump

When you love someone,
And you love them with your heart,
It never disappears,
When you're apart.
And when you love someone
And you've done all you can do,
You set them free,
And if that love was true...
When you love someone
It will all come back to you.
-- Forget Paris

A heart can be broken; but it keeps beating just the same.
-- Fried Green Tomatoes

It doesn't matter if the guy is perfect or the girl is perfect, as long as they are perfect for each other.
-- Good Will Hunting

You're not perfect sport, and let me save you the suspense, this girl you met, she isn't perfect either. But the question is whether or not you're perfect for each other.
-- Good Will Hunting

Love actually is all around us.
-- Hugh Grant, Love Actually

You make me want to be a better man.
-- Jack Nicholson, "As Good As It Gets"

If you choose to lock your heart away, you'll loose it for certain.
-- Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow, "Pirates of the Caribbean"

Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often, it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there -- fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know, none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge -- they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaking suspicion... love actually is all around.
-- Love Actually

To love is to suffer. To avoid suffering, one must not love; but then one suffers from not loving. Therefore, to love is to suffer, not to love is to suffer, to suffer is to suffer. To be happy is to love; to be happy then is to suffer, but suffering makes one unhappy; therefore to be unhappy one must love or love to suffer or suffer from too much happiness. I hope you're getting this down.
-- Love and Death

When a divorce lawyer gets married it's the triumph of hope over experience.
-- Love is a Four Letter Word

Sometimes in life there really are bonds formed that can never be broken. Sometimes you really can find that one person who will stand by you no matter what. Maybe you'll find it in a spouse and celebrate it with your dream wedding, but there's also the chance that the one person you can count on for a lifetime, the one person who knows you sometimes better than you know yourself is the same person who's been standing beside you all along.
-- Marion St. Claire, Bride Wars

Love is passion, obsession, someone you can't live without. If you don't start with that, what are you going to end up with? Fall head over heels. I say find someone you can love like crazy and who'll love you the same way back. And how do you find him? Forget your head and listen to your heart. I'm not hearing any heart. Run the risk, if you get hurt, you'll come back. Because, the truth is there is no sense living your life without this. To make the journey and not fall deeply in love - well, you haven't lived a life at all. You have to try. Because if you haven't tried, you haven't lived.
-- Meet Joe Black

The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return.
-- Moulin Rouge

Love is a many splendid thing; Love lift us up where we belong; All you need is love.
-- Moulin Rouge

Your eyes are the sweetest stars I've ever seen.
-- Moulin Rouge

Storm clouds may gather and stars may collide, but I love you, until the end of time.
-- Moulin Rouge

We should be lovers, and that's a fact.
-- Moulin Rouge

Suddenly the world seems such a perfect place,
suddenly it moves with such a perfect grace,
suddenly my life doesn't seem such a waste,
it all revolves around you.
-- Moulin Rouge

There's an Italian painter, named Carlotti, and he defined beauty...He said it was the summation of the parts, working together in such a way that nothing needed to be added, taken away, or altered, and thats you, you're beautiful.
-- Nicolas Cage, Next

I'm just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her.
-- Notting Hill

I am someone else when I'm with you, someone more like myself.

Summer romances begin for all kinds of reasons, but when all is said and done, they have one thing in common. They're shooting stars, a spectacular moment of light in the heavens, fleeting glimpse of eternity, and in a flash they're gone.

I love that you get cold when it is 71 degrees out. I love that it takes you an hour and a half to order a sandwich. I love that you get a little crinkle in your nose when you're looking at me like I'm nuts. I love that after I spend day with you, I can still smell your perfume on my clothes. And I love that you are the last person I want to talk to before I go to sleep at night. And it's not because I'm lonely, and it's not because it's New Year's Eve. I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.

Tips For Saving Money On Airfare

 Saving $$$ on Airfare

ABC News’ Paula Faris reports:
Looking for a deal on airfare?
A lot of people are wondering what the potential merger between American and US Airways would mean for their pocket book. With this in mind, here are some tips on booking airfare you can follow that could save you money.
1. Book in pairs. When booking for a family or group, booking in pairs can help you avoid higher prices that many airlines charge for the convenience of sitting together.
2. Buy your tickets on Tuesday afternoon. It turns out that airlines typically release their sale fares on Tuesdays at 3pm; making it a good time to secure those deals before they expire or are gobbled up by other sale-searching travelers.
3. Shop around on websites. When searching for the best prices on airfare, it is a good idea to look at multiple websites. Hipmunk.com has an ‘agony tab’ that combines price, duration, and number of stops so you can determine how painful your upcoming trip will be. Sign up at Yapta.com and they will send you alerts if the rate falls before you book.
4. Book directly with the airline. Airlines often pay a $10 to $15 commission on flights that are booked through a discount site. Because of this, airlines often encourage customers to book through their official websites by offering incentives like promo codes, and deals posted on their twitter and facebook accounts. Most airlines don’t publicize this, but many will give you a refund if the price of your flight goes down after booking; you just have to call them.
5. Be flexible with your dates. Being flexible with your travel dates and searching nearby airports could save you lots of money. Choosing a flight out of an airport nearby your first choice for a day earlier or later could help keep more money in your wallet.

hrink Your Cellphone Bill

To stay in touch with his daughters, 11-year-old Reagan 5-year-old Ava, Phil Barry, a divorced father in Marshfield, Mass., got his eldest an iPhone so they could videochat.
“When they’re with their mom, I try to respect that time, but I still have to talk to them every day,” he said. “I have to see their faces.”
Barry pays for three phones — his iPhone, Reagan’s iPhone and a basic phone for his mother, Susan.  He said his most recent AT&T bill, weighed down by extras like texting and data, had been $311.
“It could go a couple of dollars either way,” he told ABC News recently. “It’s rough. I mean, I think about what most people pay for their cars and that’s what I pay for my cell phone bill. … A lot of it is probably my fault, where I should pay more attention.”

J.D. Power and Associates says that U.S. families spend an average of $139 a month on cell phones — $1,668 a year — up from $127 a month in 2009. And the Bureau of Labor Statistics says that household spending on cellphone services rose by more than 4.5 percent in 2011 and has gone up more than 20 percent since 2006.
ABC News’ “Real Money” team joined forces with Todd Dunphy, a former Verizon employee who co-founded the mobile phone analytics company Validas, which seeks to eliminate what it calls “wireless waste” — unused data, minutes and texts.
Validas, which performs analysis of cellphone usage for large corporations, recently launchedSavelovegive.com to provide the same service for free to consumers.
The service is completely free, but its creators hope the site will turn that “wireless waste” into something good, inviting users to pledge some of their savings to charity.  The company doesn’t take a cut from users’ donations.
“We built in microphilanthropy in the app, so you have your savings connected with a foundation for women’s empowerment,” Dunphy said. “You can take some of that savings and redirect it.  Or you can keep it all for yourself, it’s no big deal.  But we created a vehicle.”
According to Validas, 80 percent of Americans overspend on their monthly cell phone bill by an average of $200 a year.  When Dunphy analyzed Barry’s bill at Savelovegive.com, he immediately found ways to save far more than that.
Although Savelovegive.com automatically prepares an email that users can send to their carriers to switch plans, Barry went into an AT&T store to change his plan in person.  By switching to a MobileShare plan with 6GB of data a month and adding a corporate discount, Barry will save nearly $1,400 over the course of the year.
Below are Dunphy’s tips for making sure your cellphone plan is a perfect fit and possibly shrinking your bill.
1. Let free websites figure it out for you. Just plug in your phone number.
At Savelovegive.com, you log in with your carrier account information, giving the site access to your previous bills.  The site analyzes the bills, looking at usage and charges.  It then compares your plan to other available plans, offering you ways to adjust your current plan and save.
Savelovegive.com currently works for AT&T and Verizon customers, but the site plans to expand to other carriers.  Another analysis site is Billshrink.com.
In Barry’s case, he was buying 8 gigabytes of data monthly but only using 2.5.  By bundling talking and texting into one new plan, he could save nearly $1,200 a year.
2. Look for sneaky charges such as horoscope texts, roadside assistance and 411.
Tiny charges can be added to your bill without your knowledge. On average, it’s more than $5 a month, according to a study by the Citizens Utility Board and Validas.  If you see a charge you’re not familiar with, contact your carrier to have it removed.
3. Get your discount.
Tens of thousands of companies work with cellphone carriers to get their employees discounts.  It’s not just for corporate workers — teachers, government workers and even students can qualify.  But the key is that you have to ask for it, entering your organizational email address on the carrier’s discount web site. Check the discount pages at AT&TVerizon and Sprint.
Barry’s employer was recently purchased by IBM, so he’ll qualify for a discount of up to 25 percent. The discount could save him another $200 a year.
Dunphy told ABC News that Barry’s situation was typical.
“A lot of it is awareness,” he said. “Awareness of what’s out there and then also trying to figure out what you use and what’s available. … It’s like going and getting a suit or a dress, getting it perfectly tailored to you.”

About 2012 Federal Taxes

http://www.jklasser.com/articles/what-to-know-about-this-tax-filing-season/

February 5, 2013 8:30 am

What to Know About This Tax Filing Season

The IRS began to process personal income tax returns for most filers on January 30. If you were not in the initial onslaught of filers, here are some differences to note from last year:

Tax forms

The forms and schedules have been updated to reflect the latest tax rules, including changes made by cost-of-living adjustments and extensions of provisions that had expired in 2011. Some key numbers that are different on 2012 returns:
  • The personal and dependency exemption amount is $3,800.
  • The basic standard deduction amounts are $5,750 for singles; $8,700 for heads of households, and $11,900 for joint filers.
  • Eligibility to make Roth IRA contributions and to deduct traditional IRA contributions if you participate in your employer’s retirement plan.
The IRS is still working on updating some forms to reflect extensions of expired provisions under the American Taxpayer Relief Act. If you need to use any of these forms, such as the one for claiming the nonbusiness energy credit for adding insulation or other energy-saving items to your home, you probably won’t be able to file until late February or early March. You can find a list of these forms on the IRS site(www.irs.gov/uac/Newsroom/List-of-IRS-forms-that-1040-filers-can-begin-filing-in-late-February-or-into-March-2013).

Refunds

As in the past, the IRS expects to issue most refunds in less than 21 days. You can track your refund using the IRS’s online tool Where’s My Refund(www.irs.gov/Refunds/Where’s-My-Refund-It’s-Quick,-Easy,-and-Secure). You can follow the progress of your refund within 24 hours after your e-file your return (or four weeks after you mailed a paper return). New for this year: The IRS will give you a personalized date on which you can expect your refund.

Identity theft issues

Identity theft continues to be a significant issue for the IRS. It’s doing its best to block identity thieves from recovering tax refunds owed to legitimate taxpayers. However, if someone uses your tax information to file, your refund may be delayed.
You may need to file Form 14039, Identity Theft Affidavit (www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f14039.pdf), with the IRS (the form was revised in December 2012). You may need to furnish a document (e.g., a copy of your driver’s license) to prove who you are.

Good luck

If you have questions or concerns about filing issues, check with JKLasser.com (www.jklasser.com) for answers. You can also submit a personal question to Ask JK

and it may be selected for a response and a listing with other Ask JK responses.

Check The Numbers
$57,000. This the maximum amount of adjusted gross income you can have to use Free File, which enables you to complete your return and file it with the IRS electronically at no cost.
3. This is the number of years you have to submit a refund claim in most cases. Thus, April 15, 2013, is the deadline for filing for a refund of 2009 taxes.
$2,200. This is the average earned income tax credit claimed by eligible taxpayers last year. For 2012, the maximum credit ranges from $475 for a taxpayer with no qualifying child to $5,891 for those with 3 or more qualifying children.
3%. This is the penalty rate you'll owe on underpayments of estimated taxes for 2012
